Jenevieve was born to a musical family, but in a similarly-nontraditional sense: her Abuela and mother are both ballet dancers, taking the next-gen to flamenco and ballet classes essentially as soon as Jenevieve could walk. Whilst the work ethic and discipline of dance proved formative, the allure of old-school pop music has always been strong for Jenevieve. It was there when her family made the move from Miami to Los Angeles (in part, she remembers, due to the constant terror of hurricanes). And it’s a passion which found a true creative ally when Jenevieve met her now-musical-partner Jean Benz, with whom she worked on the jazz-inspired, nocturnal hip-hop of ‘Medallion’, the glistening R&B-funk of ‘Baby Powder’, and her extraordinarily-accomplished album project to come.
